“Time flies when you are having fun”. We know from personal experience that time crawls when you are not having fun. It pain it seems to just stop altogether.
This morning, we look at how to pray in difficult times. We look at how to pray as Jesus prayed. The Bible has a whole book, the Psalms, of different kinds of prayers. Some are poetic and formal. Some are raw, emotional, and honest. These Psalms to help us pray.
If you are feeling anger in your life because of pain or injustice, consider praying Psalm 137 as a way to be open and honest with God. Imprecatory prayers are a way to be honest with God and to initiate a process of spiritual healing through God’s grace and mercy.
Some of the passages in the Bible don’t sit well with most modern readers. Passages like the imprecatory Psalms, the story of Judah and Tamar, Jesus dismissing the gentile woman at the dinner table, and Jesus’s command to hate our families. By exploring several parts of Scripture that challenge our understanding of the Bible and of God, we can strengthen our faith and find unexpected blessings in his Word.
